Our stay was in a "deluxe double castle room" which was very spacious. The bathroom was modern with quality fittings. We particularly chose this hotel because we like "old" buildings and it did not disappoint. The property was a private house built in the early 1900's and remains in the same family line. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. As we were doing some day trips in our car we decided to stay out of town and, for our purpose, found the location very suitable. It would be possible to have a holiday here and not go out except for meals! There is a gracious lounge opening onto a large patio which is surrounded by lawns and gardens. It is the type of living that one could get used to very easily! If we were ever to travel to Biarritz again we would want to revisit this relaxing place.
The only drawbacks for us were the lighting in our room (not bright enough) and lack of tea/coffee making facilities. You could enjoy a cup of coffee in the lounge but we thought 4 euros per cup was restrictive. If we could ever own a hotel of this nature (and we never could!) we would provide a self service tea/coffee facility in the lovely lounge. It would make the room a focal point of the hotel.
The chateau itself, and the gardens. The gourmet restaurant next door, a short walk away through the grounds. The history of the chateau. The bed was massive and very comfortable.
No facilities in the room for tea and coffee making. The bath in our room was very difficult to get into and out of. Toilet seat was broken. The tiles in the bath/shower needed regrouting, which for a relatively expensive overnight stop is not good. No heating, and a little chilly at night. However, we would not disuade anyone from staying there. The historical information about the place would have been nice in English as well.
Loved the Chateau/decor.
Poor buffet choice at breakfast. Fresh fruit available was mostly bruised and therefore not very appealing. No ham or continental meats usually available at buffets.
Spotlessly clean, beautiful bathroom and very comfortable bed. Very nice pool and grounds, unfortunately the weather was poor during our stay but would love a return visit sometime.
Very expensive breakfast.
The room in the Hunting Lodge is very comfortable and the close access to the local restaurant was a bonus after a long trip.
We did not stay long enough to dislike anything.
Fantastic spot would definitely stay here again, welcome was great the lady at reception was extremely helpful and friendly.
Beautiful old building. Breathtaking manicured gardens. Lovely pool and view...friendly staff. Room and finishings exquisite. Original reception rooms preserved. Like being on a film set. We would return to the region specially to stay again
In ground floor bedroom can hear people above on wooden floors but not sure if this can be rectified in such an old house
Great breakfast in a fantastic atmosphere.
Lounge, nice ambience, staff very helpful
Had to wait outside as we arrived early to get into our room
la location,la camera , il parco
Lovely character to the building, and beautiful setting.
lovely place with nice view and good restaurant on the site
Absent of lift
Decor of the hotel was old and beautiful.
Wonderful setting. A real chateau experience. Beautiful pool and wild flowers.
Bed was a bit lumpy and had a plastic mattress cover which was hot.
A little far from Biarritz and not many restaurants nearby except the one on the property..
